The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Honorary Star of the GameScooter Gennett, I guess? He collected 2 hits and scored the Reds lone run in a game that looked to be a snoozer from the Reds point of view. So congrats, Scooter. Throw another trophy onto that shelf.Honorable mentions are due to Those of you who stuck it out and watched this one on a Saturday evening Key playsThe Reds got on the board first. Scooter Gennett led off the top of the 2nd with a single to left. He moved to 2nd base on a walk by Eugenio Suarez and then slid on over to 3rd on a passed ball. Scott Schebler then lifted a fly ball to right that brought in Scooter for a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately that would be all for the offense, as the Reds had no answer for Rafael Montero or the rest of the Mets pitching staff. That lead would be erased immediately in the bottom of the inning. Dominic Smith reached on a 2-out walk and then Kevin Plawecki smacked a 2-run dinger to right. Mets led, 2-1.Things stayed that way until the bottom of the 6th. Asdrubel Cabrera led of with a double then moved to third on a Brandon Nimmo ground out. With 2 outs, Dominic Smith singled to right and brought in Cabrera. Mets led, 3-1.The Mets started off the bottom of the 7th with back-to-back walks. That ended Homer Bailey night. Michael Lorenzen came in and, after the runners moved over on a sacrifice bunt, gave up a single to Norichika Aoki that deflected off of Gennett, scoring both runners. Asdrubel Cabrera came up and hit his 2nd double of the game to score Aoki Matt Wisler Jersey. Mets led, 6-1.Tony GraphaninoSource FanGraphsOther NotesAfter a string of solid starts, Homer Bailey had some trouble tonight. He ended with a final line of 6 innings pitched, 6 hits, 5 earned runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Hopefully he can bounce back next time out.The Reds hope to avoid the 4-game sweep tomorrow afternoon. Sal Romano will take the mound and will face off against Jacob DeGrom.
